The Shannonside Winter Music Weekend festival features bluegrass, swing, trad and classical musical acts, poetry, singers’ sessions, set dancing, intimate acoustic concerts & a concert trail this January 16th to 20th at Sixmilebridge, Bunratty Green and Bunratty Folk Park
The bill includes an improvised Swing, a “Label it yourself” Gig from who else but Mikey & the Scallywags, Blues, Tim Rodgers & The Clew Bay Critters, the Tuxedo Jazz Big Band, a poetry corner at the Courthouse with the Three Legged Stool Poets.
The Barn hosts Tuxedo Junction, there’s an Oldtimey Session in The Mill Bar, Strange Brew at McGregor’s while the Banjaxed Bluegrass Band, Grown Men and Acoustic Roots Session fill the air elsewhere.

And just when you have had time to recover and draw breath, the people of Doolin host the annual trad fest in remembranceof the Russell family. So grab your sleeping bag and ground sheet and head off wesht this February from the 21st to the 24th.

On a calmer note, the annual Ennis Book Club Festival, a social and literary gathering bringing together book club members and readers from all over Ireland and beyond for author readings, workshops, debate and countless cups of tea takes place this March from the 7th to 9th.
Last year saw authors and speakers including John Banville, Joseph O’Connor, Fergal Keane, Sean Moncrieff, Mary O’Rourke, Aine Lawlor andmany more including the Clare Three Legged Stool Poets fresh from their appearance at the Shannonside gig. For more detals check the website here.
