September Live Music in Ireland

Lionel Richie returns to Europe this autumn with his first European tour since 2009. His extensive Tuskegee Tour includes shows at the O2 in Dublin on September 24th and the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on September 26th. Richie’s live shows deliver a mix of material from a 30 plus-year career, from the memorable early days of the Commodores, to the sweet serenades of his eighties piano ballads and up tempo pop material from the noughties. Richie’s career has seen him rack up sales of more than 100 million albums, 22 top 10s, five Grammys, an Oscar for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe and a host of other awards from virtually every major entertainment organisation.

It has been a good year of chart success for rapper B.O.B, whose recent single “So Good” made waves in Ireland and across Europe. Bobby Ray will play his first headline show in Ireland on Tuesday 18th September at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. B.o.B returns to Ireland having previously supported Paramore at the O2, Dublin.Now with his album Strange Clouds, the six-time Grammy nominated rapper/songwriter is on a quest to show the fans that his float to the top is no fluke.

Swiftly becoming the hottest Irish act around, Bressie will play a headline show at the Olympia Theatre on Saturday September 29th with all tickets to his Academy, Dublin show in June now sold out! Already a well respected and talented musician from his time fronting The Blizzards, Bressie’s debut solo album ‘Colourblind Stereo’, released last summer, reached #1 in the iTunes Album chart. Bressie has been highly acclaimed and lauded as The Voice of Ireland coach. The show has reached viewership figures of 700,000+ eclipsing The Late Late Show and Saturday Night Show.

Lady Gaga is due to drop into the Lansdowne area on Saturday September 16th as her Born This Way Ball continues to roll around Europe. In this brand new tour, Gaga will perform her latest album as well as music from both The Fame and The Fame Monster. The Born This Way Ball began in April in Seoul, South Korea and continued on throughout Australia and Asia, and arrives in 21 European cities over the summer.

Electric Picnic has established itself as a melting pot of fine music, art, comedy, spoken word and more. This year to Electric Picnic 2012 returns to Stradbally over three days at the end of the summer. Among the main acts to perform at this year’s festival are The Cure, Sigur Ros, Elbow, Orbital, Hot Chip, The XX and The Roots. The Cure will make their Electric Picnic debut with a two-hour set of songs drawn from all 14 of their albums. Among the other acts announced are Azealia Banks, Grizzly Bear, Christy Moore, Glen Hansard, Metronomy, Alabama Shakes, The Horrors, Roots Manuva, Bell X1, Ed Sheeran, Cranes, Little Roy, Land Lovers, Solar Bears, Willis Earl Beal and Lanterns on the Lake.
