Coz Woodstock, Knock nor the Feast of Cana, Can hold a match to Lisdoonvarna (Christy Moore)
Once a legend for summer madness, the wild west town of Lisdoon no longer hosts the music rock extravaganzas it was once famous for but holds a place closer to the hearts of many an Irishman woman through its long association with matchmaking.
Just picture it, a month long festival dedicated to finding Mr or Ms Right, some great trad music in the pubs and hotels around the town, slow waltzes and lively jives to Big Tom and The Mainliners, does for ya every time. Anyone for the last of the bachelor farmers now, 40 acres and a herd of dairy cows. Might not be for you but set along the beautiful coastline of north Clare, along the Burren road, through Ballyvaughan, Fanore and around the bay to Lisdoon on a Friday afternoon, what more could you ask for.
And if you need a moment to escape the matchmaking madness, meander down the coast to your nearby hotel at Dromoland Castle, Moy House and The Lodge at Doonbeg.
