Ireland’s National Winter Solstice Festival and more during December

Dublin’s premier celebration of traditional music and culture. The Temple Bar TradFest has gained a reputation as the one of the biggest and best traditional Irish music and culture festivals inIreland. It is now a firm fixture on the National and International festival calendar attracting visitors from all over Ireland and all over the world. The festival takes place over five days and five nights with over 200 events. Numerous iconic venues are used to host concerts featuring talented and beloved musicians from Ireland (and further afield) such as The Dubliners, Clannad, Moya Brennan, and Ralph McTell. These venues include Christ Church Cathedral, Dublins City Hall, The New Theatre and the Button Factory.

Welcome to Ireland’s first National Winter Solstice Festival – an indoor music event that celebrates the global phenomenon of 2012. This particular date has been pinpointed by the Mayans, the Egyptians, Hopi Indians and many more making it the most exciting astrological night for 26,000 years. We will be partying from sun-down to sun-up just like the way our Celtic ancestors used to, with a live-feed from Newgrange at sunrise! The festival is a non-stop feast of International bands and well-known Irishmusic performances mixed in with a touch of spiritual awareness.

The Shannonside Winter Music Festival is an annual event attracting an estimated 3,000 visitors to the villages or Sixmilebridge and Bunratty, County Clare. It will feature around 70 acoustic music events happening at over 15 venues across the villages. This folk festival covers a wide range of musical tastes, from bluegrass and swing to traditional Irish and classical, so there is sure to be something to suit everyone. This year the festival has a great line up, including Abbey Ceili Band, Alan Kelly Gang, Bending the Strings and Gerry Clarke and Frank Gallagher to name but a few. There will be traditional Irish sessions in all the pubs in Sixmilebridge Village, as well as performances in Bunratty Castle Hotel, the Courthouse and Sixmilebridge Church.
