Blarney Castle

Most famous for its stone, the Blarney stone of course to confer the gift of the gab on all whose lips touch it.

The word ‘blarney’ was introduced by none other than Queen Elizabeth I herself and is described as pleasant talk, intended to deceive without offending.

The less-known Rock Close and castle grounds are well worth a visit if you are in the Cork area. The Rock Close is where majestic yew and oak trees grow around an ancient druidic settlement, including a dolmen, wishing steps and a witch’s kitchen. To add to the magica sense, below the castle are mysterious caves.
