Autumn Clare Festivals

It’s not too late yet to gather up your dowry and head for the Lisdonvarna hills over the next couple of weeks to engage in high jinks from high noon to the wee hours. Dancing, match-making, trad music and fun to be had at this (in)famous spa fest.  It’s never too late for lurve.

Or fancy a food and exercise combo instead? No nicer place to do this than in beautiful Ballyvaughan in the heart of the Burren this September when you can follow your nose (and the signs along the way) to forage for fodder among the fronds and flaura. And lose inches in the process. Okay, that last bit is not guaranteed.

For higher levels of calorie burning, check out the Burren peaks walking festival at the end of the month for walkers of all levels. Good walking gear essential.

Of course, if you need to burn off even more calories why not take in some fantastic scenery in the process?. You can join in the Loop Head Loop Leisure Cycle at the end of the month. At the other end of the spectrum, take the family to see the American Wrestling Roadshow in Ennis for all the thrills and drama of a ring side seat without breaking into a sweat.

Gathering up the harvest are the farmers in a demo day from a century ago in Bunratty Folk Park at the end of September.

Further east the lakeside villages of Whitegate and Scarriff host their Walking Festival at the start of October with guided graded walks and boat trips thrown in for good measure.

For a somewhat loftier challenge you can choose whether to run or walk the 3 Peaks surrounding twinned towns of Ballina/Killalow mid -Oct over a couple of Autumnal days and later in October, after you’ve toned and trimmed, you can sit back and enjoy Ennis Fashion Week which promises a showcase of beauty and fashion.

Finally this Autumn you can don your mask and costume for the Halloween Fun & Games at Bunratty Folk Park at the end of the month.
